Composite resin veneers are applied directly in the office and offer: more affordable cost; easier repair; less durability; possibility of staining over time. Minimal prep veneers require minimal enamel reduction (0.3-0.5 mm) or even no reduction (no-prep) in selected cases. They are possible thanks to latest-generation ceramics like lithium disilicate, which allow extremely thin thicknesses while maintaining strength. Ideal for: small teeth or teeth with gaps; slightly misaligned teeth; adding volume. Contraindicated for: very dark teeth; severe bruxism; pronounced misalignment.

Veneers cover only the front surface of the tooth (like an artificial nail) and require minimal reduction — ideal for aesthetic improvements on healthy teeth. Ceramic crowns cover the entire tooth (360°) and are indicated when: the tooth is very damaged or weakened; there are extensive restorations; after root canal treatment; significant change in shape or position is needed. Both use high-quality ceramics like zirconia and lithium disilicate.

We use latest-generation ceramics: Lithium Disilicate (IPS e.max) — excellent translucency and aesthetics, ideal for veneers and anterior teeth, 360-400 MPa strength; Zirconia — extremely resistant (900-1200 MPa), ideal for posterior crowns and bridges, modern versions with excellent aesthetics; Feldspathic ceramics — maximum aesthetics for layering over zirconia. The choice depends on location, aesthetic and functional needs of each case.

Porcelain veneer treatment usually involves 2-3 appointments over 2-3 weeks: 1st Appointment — digital planning (DSD), photographs, impressions and color selection; 2nd Appointment — minimal tooth preparation and final impressions, provisional placement; 3rd Appointment — try-in and cementation of final veneers. Between sessions, we use a mock-up or provisionals so you can visualize and test the result before the final version.

The procedure is generally painless or minimally uncomfortable. With minimal prep veneers, the reduction is so superficial that anesthesia is often not needed. For conventional preparations, we use local anesthesia for your comfort. After placement, there may be mild sensitivity for a few days, especially to extreme temperatures, which is perfectly normal and passes quickly. We provide all post-procedure care instructions.

Digital Smile Design (DSD) is a digital planning tool that allows you to visualize the final result of veneers before starting treatment. Through facial photographs and video, we create a simulation of the new smile considering facial proportions, smile line, and individual characteristics. You can approve or request changes to the digital design. Then, we fabricate a mock-up (prototype) that you can try in your mouth before final execution, for a highly predictable result.

Yes, we often recommend whitening before veneers. Reason: veneers do not change color after cementation, so we must choose the final color based on already whitened teeth. Procedure: whitening 2-3 weeks before veneer color selection; we wait for color to stabilize; we select ceramic color. If getting veneers on only some teeth, the rest should be at the desired color. After treatment, maintain color with periodic touch-ups on natural teeth.

With modern techniques and materials, debonding is rare (less than 2% in 10 years). Factors that can affect adhesion: untreated bruxism; biting very hard objects; facial trauma; problems with cementation technique. If a veneer debonds, it can usually be recemented if intact. Prevention: wear night guard if you grind teeth; avoid biting ice, pens or opening packages with teeth; attend maintenance appointments.
